A breakthrough in vitiligo treatment has been achieved through hair follicle melanocyte stem cell transplantation. Vitiligo is a refractory disease impacting physical and mental health. The study utilized a patented method to transplant melanocyte stem cells (McSCs) from hair follicles into affected areas. The team selected patients with a history of unresponsive vitiligo treatments and divided them into two groups: one group received the patented treatment combined with excimer laser therapy and the other group received only laser therapy. The results were significant, with a cure rate of 92% in the treatment group compared to 0% in the control group. This innovative approach addresses the challenge of sourcing melanocytes for vitiligo patients and offers a promising new treatment avenue, potentially benefiting millions of vitiligo patients worldwide.
