The data collected were obtained from observations and included the following variables: heart rate (HR) and mean, systolic and diastolic (MAP, SAP and DAP). The following electrocardiographic variables were measured: duration (in milliseconds) of the P-wave, P-R interval, QRS complex and Q-T interval, amplitude (in millivolts) of the P wave and R wave, heart rate and number of beats per minute. The average values (x) and standard deviations (s) obtained are plotted in the tables (Tables 1, 2 and 3).
There was no difference in the mean values of HR, SAP, DAP or MAP between the time points within each group or between the groups. The variables that were normally distributed were subjected to the Tukey test.
Table 1. Mean (x) ± standard deviation (s) of variables: heart rate (HR), in beats/minute; systolic, mean, and diastolic blood pressure (SAP, MAP and DAP); in mmHg obtained from dogs anesthetized with sevoflurane and submitted to continuous infusion of lidocaine (LG) or physiological solution (CG). Measurements were obtained at baseline (MB) and 20, 40, 60 and 80 minutes after starting continuous infusion with lidocaine or physiological solutions (M20, M40, M60, M80).

There was no significant difference between time points within each group or between Tukey groups (P > 0.05).
* Difference between groups according to Tukey's test (P > 0.05).
Means followed by the same letter, lowercase in the column, do not differ according to Tukey's test (P > 0.05).
# Difference between groups according to Dunn's test (P > 0.05).
The duration (in milliseconds) of the P wave, P-R interval, QRS complex and QT interval did not differ between the groups. In the observation of each group individually, no significant changes were found between the time points (Table 1). For the variable amplitudes (in millivolts) of the P wave and the R wave, no significant differences were observed between the moments within each group or between the groups (Table 2). Except for the R-wave amplitude variable, all the other variables did not present a normal distribution; therefore, Dunn's test was used, while the variable amplitude of the R-wave, due to its normal distribution, underwent the Tukey test.
Table 2. Mean (x) ± standard deviation (s) of variables: Duration (in milliseconds) of the P-wave, P-R interval, QRS complex and Q-T interval obtained from dogs anesthetized with sevoflurane and submitted to continuous infusion of lidocaine (LG) or physiological solution (CG). Measurements were obtained at baseline (MB) and 20, 40, 60 and 80 minutes after starting continuous infusion with lidocaine or physiological solutions (M20, M40, M60, M80).
